1. Do I really need to take a course to read the entire Bible?

No, but your chances of successfully completing the reading are much greater with the course. During early testing of the program, two-thirds of those completing the reading told us they would never have read the entire Bible without the course.

2. Why this Bible?
We use this Bible for a number of reasons, foremost being that it is a good reading Bible. The type is LARGE, so it is easy on the eyes. The New International Version is very readable, yet is a full-fledged translation (not a paraphrase)...

3. Why a Participant's Guide?
Intended for use as part of The Bible in 90 Days program, the Participant Guide provides valuable background information for your reading, includes questions that will be discussed in a group setting, and helps you organize your questions and insights in a convenient place.

4. Is it absolutely necessary to use The Bible in 90 Days Bible?

No. However, we highly recommend that you do, because few other Bibles have the combination a features that we believe are important to successfully completing the reading. These features include: reader-friendly translation (versus interpretation), large print, few footnotes and easy portability.

In the context of a class, we find it very helpful to standardize on one Bible, so that the discussion will be about the meaning of the text rather than the differences in various participants' versions of the Bible.

Also, being able to refer to page numbers rather than book/chapter/verse in class helps beginners keep up with veteran readers during discussions.

5. Must we use the provided videos?
It is important that each meeting include a lesson that provides insights into to the previous week's reading. The majority of churches or small groups use the provided videos for this purpose. Others incorporate live lessons from clergy or lay leaders. In these cases, lesson leaders will sometimes use the provided video lessons in their own research.

6. Why 90 days?
For many people, 90 days is short enough to stay focused on the goal, and long enough to keep the daily reading from becoming overly burdensome. Reading the Bible at this pace also fosters connections in the reading that just aren't possible when reading from cover to cover over the course of a year or five years. Further, doing this in 90 days makes it simple to fit it into a season, such as spring, summer or fall.

7. Is any training involved?
No formal training is required. Course leaders are given complete, easy-to-follow instructions in the Leader's Kit. With this information, even a person who has never read the Bible before can successfully lead a group through the program.

10. How should would we promote the course?
Promoting this course can take a variety of forms.

At the simplest level, you can just pick up the phone and call people you think might be likely candidates. In addition, depending on this size of your church or community, you may want to choose one or more of the following promotional approaches:

* Insert for Church Bulletins
* Articles(s) in Church newsletter or local newpaper
* Press release to local newspapers or newsweeklies
* Brochure to hand out
* Self-mailing brochures
* Posters
* Promotional email

We have samples of each of these in our Course Leader's Support Area.  Some people just fill in the blanks and use these samples "as is", others use them as starting points and develop their own. You will also find some materials on the CD in the Leader's Kit that will help with promotion.
